Professional Packing

• Boxes that you wish to pack your items in should be new/good quality boxes.
• Boxes containing fragile items such as glasses and plates should be wrapped with paper or bubble wrap.
• Heavier items such as books and records should be packed in smaller boxes, so they can be properly carried
• Larger boxes should be packed with lighter items such as blankets and pillows
• Never overpack your items into boxes, this can result in items falling through the bottoms of the boxes
• Make sure all the boxes are taped and labeled correctly

In-Home Estimates

The only way to get a accurate estimate for a moving cost is to have us come to your home survey your belongings and then prepare an estimate. Any estimate you might receive over the phone is only as good as the information you supplied to the mover, small items add up much quicker than one might expect which can greatly increase your cost at the end of the move. Please call 913-927-4347 or e-mail mike@mikehammermoving.com for a free estimate.

  • If you are only moving a select number of items we would be happy to submit an estimate based off a written list you could supply us. Send E-Mail list to mike@mikehammermoving.com

Furniture Moving

Dressers:

If a dresser has six drawers or less, it may be left full of soft goods only. If a dresser has more than six drawers it should be emptied. At times longer dressers may need to be put on end to get around corners and though doorways. Always remove jewelry, perfumes, and any other valuables that may move around inside the drawers.

Modular Furniture:

This is the furniture you have assembled out of a box. Our movers always handle your furniture with care; however, this type of furniture (made of press board) at times is best dismantled to some extent to avoid it falling apart when being moved. At the time of your in home estimate these issues can be addressed to avoid moving day problems.

Antiques:

Over the years the joints and glues holding these pieces together may become weak, so it’s always recommended that these items be emptied out to avoid any undue stress on them during your move. This will allow our mover to give your most special pieces the care they need.

Pictures, Glass Tops or Shelves:

These items must be packed with cardboard or bubble wrapped to ensure safe delivery to your new home. We will be able to handle the large glass tops in our van.

Piano Moving

We move all piano and organs on appropriate dollies, Baby Grand pianos are placed on a piano board for safe transportation.

Boxes & Packing Supplies

SMALL MOVING BOXES

1.5 cu. ft
18″ x 12″ x 12″
Small packing boxes are great for items that are smaller and more compact. Items such as books, DVDs, video game consoles, magazines, tools, pantry items. These boxes work great for packing up heavier items. The heavier the item the smaller the box.

MEDIUM MOVING BOXES

3.0 cu. ft
18″ x 18″ x 16″
These boxes care considered the most commonly used box. They can hold items such as small picture frames, toys and other light overflow items. They’re great for mixing in heavier and lighter items, so you don’t end up with anything too heavy to lift.

LARGE MOVING BOXES

4.5 cu. ft
18″ x 18″ x 24″
These are the largest boxes to pack with. Excellent for the lighter sized stuff like pillows, blankets, towels, and lamps, linens and clothes. We suggest using these for items that are lighter but would otherwise be awkward to carry on their own.

WARDROBE MOVING BOXES

24″ x 21″ x 46″
These boxes allow you to move your closet in very little time. Just keep your clothes on hangers and hang them up on the metal bar inside the box. These boxes do a great job at protecting clothes from getting damaged during the move.

We also provide picture and mirror boxes.
